Everyone needs this

December 31, 2006

This is for real! It’s an actual pad, with magnets on it so you can stick it to your fridge. :) I found this gem at Knock Knock, where I like to order my favorite “All Out Of” check-off shopping list.

Celebrity Lookalike Thingamabob

December 20, 2006

Okay, so you upload a photo to this website and it runs some sort of face recognition software and tells you which celebrities you’re supposed to resemble. (I dunno about my results, but hey… I’ll go with them. *hehheh!*)

It’s kind of fun! Give it a try and share your results in the comments!

DIY 12-sided-dice calendar

December 19, 2006

Check it out – go here and print out the 12-sided-die calendar, then cut it out and assemble it. I made one last year and printed it on bright red paper, and it looks really cool!

Then, at the end of the year, you get to smash the thing, which is incredibly satisfying, especially after a bad year. :)

"Hotchkotch"

December 19, 2006

Because “hopscotch” is kind of hard to say when you’re five.

Sunrise, Sunset…

December 18, 2006

I caught this gorgeous sunset over Spencer, WV Friday on the way home from work. This is the same vantage point that I caught another gorgeous sunset (here.) The sky has been doing some interesting things this week!!! Of course, most of the time, I don’t have my camera. When am I going to learn? Opportunity is not a lengthy visitor.

Anyone up for a roadtrip to Washington? I call shotgun!!!

I would LOOOOVE to see this exhibit! It’s a collection of portraits of Frida Kahlo, and it’s at the Tacoma Art Museum. The exhibit, “Frida Kahlo: Images of an Icon” runs February 3 through June 10, and includes sixty portraits of Kahlo taken throughout her life.

William Wray

December 6, 2006

A William Wray (yes, THAT William Wray, of Ren and Stimpy fame) exhibit is set to open December 9th. It’s in San Luis Obispo, so I’m guessing I won’t make it, but damn… I love his work! It reminds me a lot of a grittier version of WV artist Stanley Sporny’s cityscapes.

Thanks to Boingboing! for the info.

Elephant Ear

December 5, 2006

This plant is called an “Elephant Ear.” My Aunt Bonnie has one that she’s kept going for years, and it’s huge. Each leaf is about 3-4′ long and they really do look like elephant ears. When you plant them outdoors, they get even bigger.
